Pictures can say a thousand words . . .

Books are great. They serve as go-to-bed tools, calm down tools, learn your abc's tools, know your color's tools, time-killer tools, and teaching tools of all sorts. Melissa found this one, called "Howler", by Michael Rosen and Neal Laston. We generally do not post book reviews on this blog, we have anotherone for that. But this one is . . . particularly good for . . . teaching things. Read it, and let us know what you think!

Summertime!

Here are a few happenings thus far in the great summer of 2008. We're not so sure about 90 degree weather already in June, but it's better the 40 degree weather in April and May. Enjoy the little snippets!

The Doughnut Incident

Our family loves doughnuts. Daddy particularly
enjoys the "hostess raspberry filled donuts", and
will buy them on occasion for our family on
family night. Maille loves donuts. She will perform her "yummy-song" until every delicious morsel is finished. On one occasion, she was enjoying her donut, when we were all surprised to hear a frantic scream come from her sugar-filled mouth. "Ahhhhh! My do-dut!" Neither of us knew what the problem was, until we looked down and saw the raspberry filling she was pointing to. "It's bleeding!", she said. We laughed, all the while trying not to inhale the donut pieces in our mouths. Silently we chortled and shook, all the while Mai was looking at us with eyes wide as saucers. After about 5 minutes or so, we got ourselves together enough to explain that the donut was not bleeding. It was simply the raspberry filling inside, which is yummy to eat. After getting out what seemed to be a satisfactory explanation, Mai sat down again, began her yummy sing-song again, and carried on as if nothing happened. We chortled and shook for about 5 more minutes. Good times.

European Cup Time!

We in our family are soccer fans (as one may see from previous posts). We would like to take this time to promote a very large, yet largely unknown, soccer tournament taking place in Europe. The European Cup. It is very fun, very exciting, very colorful, and happening as we speak . . uh, read. If one chooses, one may visit their website: http://www.euro2008.uefa.com/ to see the current standings. I am cheering for Russia (of course), though they just suffered a loss from Spain. Go soccer, futbol . . . whatever.

Come Rain or Shine . . . or Both!

Through rain or snow we were there to yee-haww! The Baxter family reunion went off despite the . . . challenging weather. We gathered in the Wellsville city park near the tabernacle to party-it-up. We only had a small group (more food for us), but we had plenty of games and laughter to brighten up the gloomy clouds. Here are some pictures from the event for your viewing pleasure.
