Well, we made it to our first and last Salt Lake REAL soccer game for the season last Saturday, and it rocked! The new Rio Tinto Stadium was awesome. The design is state of the art. The lights and sound were perfect and our seats were great. We were down close enough to the action for me to yell a few pointers out to the professional soccer players, who didn't seem to know what was going on at times...we the fans must have a voice in every play, no? Well Aaron lost his voice yelling and was surprised that I didn't. It must have been due to all of those years being a Raa Raa that conditioned these vocals to be tough and endure any type of crowd.
REAL did score 3 excellent goals compared to FC Dallas' 1 goal. Now, they are off to the playoffs. I will have to say that REAL still has some fine tuning to do as far as moving up in the professional soccer rankings, but you've got to hand it to them, they have chosen the divine sport (next to softball) as a career and I must stand and applaud the power that can drill a round leather ball through oppositions gut (the net)!
¡VIVA FUTBOL! And always remember to stop and smell the green, luscious, slide tackling, jersey soaking, corner crashing, red card flipping, air bicycling...grass.
