Ethan has recently acquired a taste for bike riding. His mother, in all her generosity, has purchased a bike for him to ride (a DI special). Ethan has taken to riding it like a duck to water. He will ride circles around the carport next to the home, and up and down the sidewalk near our home. At the moment, he has training wheels to assist him. His father is determined to have him riding without training wheels, and, following the purchase of a helmet and perhaps elbow pads, will promote the idea to Ethan. Already he is being trained in the school of hard knocks to go fast but carefully, especially around corners. In fact, on one particular ride he crashed three times in a row because of high uncontrolled speeds around a bend on a park trail. He cried for the first two, was mad, and needed comfort. Apparently the experience scared him a bit. But after a brief explanation from his father that crashing was a part of riding bikes, and after it became less scary, he got right up on the third crash saying "I'm OK-I'm OK-I'm OK". A true warrior. That's my boy!

Supa-Kick!

Melissa is the proud new coach of a local soccer team for 4 and 5 year olds. Each week, she bravely dedicates two days to running around a small field, whistle in hand, trying to teach basic skills such as running and kicking the ball, passing, etc. Ethan is on her team, and is working not only on his skill as a player, but sportsmanship as well. He still gets really offended if someone takes the
ball while he is trying to kick a goal - "Hey! I was trying to kick a goal! Give that ball back right now!". It appears we have some good teaching opportunities before us as his parents.

Easter was a fun holiday for the family. We went with Aaron's family to Rock Canyon Park in Provo to do an Easter egg hunt. Mai loved "wak-wak"-ing around the park and discovering what was in each plastic egg as she found it. In her classic style, she was not concerned about the hub-bub going on around her. She just took her sweet time and did her thing. Ethan, on the other hand, was really active, running around trying to find eggs as quickly as possible. When he did find one, he would scream and laugh wildly and say, "I GOT ANOTHER ONE, YEEEAAAAA!!". Fun
stuff.
