Classic

The word 'classic' means something that is a perfect example of a particular style, something of lasting worth or with a timeless quality. Classic a perfect example of a style a little girl in the 80's dreamed of portraying. The side pony tail, big earrings, leg warmers and ROLLER SKATES. She just couldn't wait for an afternoon at the Classic Roller Skating Rink. Now 20 years later, a timeless quality lives on in her son, Ethan. "What would you like for your birthday, E," I ask. He replies, "Roller skates." "Do you mean the roller blades that are in a strait line," I ask. "No, the side by side ones." Oh, be still my heart. Who didn't love cruisin down their sidewalk or around the roller rink, showing their stuff to what seemed to be a crowd of admirers. The legacy lives on.

On December 13th we were off to Orem's Classic Fun Center with a new pair of red and black 'classic' roller skates, ready to enjoy a birthday that would be of lasting worth and timeless. The lights were low, the disco lights dancing, the retro neon carpet stinking, and we were off down memory lane, ready to make even more memories. Everyone grabbed a scooter or a skate and were off onto a wide open floor of music, games, friends and fun. Ethan took to the floor like a champ. With knee, elbow and wrist pads, he was off with some guidance from his father and mother. One thing we did fail to attach was a bum pad. There isn't much padding on a cute little 7 year old tushy, not withstanding E got back up and continued on his 8 wheel quest.

Thank you to all that took part in what was a wonderful blast from the bast and a celebration of youth. My youth, Ethan. A Classic in the making.

Well, we all had a great time! Watching all those cute kids skating and scooter-ing....really brought back some good memories of when we would bring our little kids to the same place for their parties...many years ago. Thanks...and Happy Birthday, Ethan!
