Images of Life

I've taken various maternity portraits in my photography career. The first being my sister, Caroline. I remember well developing the film on campus at the university. I spent hours in the dark room, making sure the contrast and exposure were just right for printing, what would be, an image to last her a lifetime.

Images of life. Moments of time. We can capture them within a split second, only to look in the mirror and say, "Where has the time gone?" And I am sure, many days will come when I do look in that mirror and contemplate a life that has past. A life filled with opportunity, excitement, fear, joy, confusion, pain, hope and faith. The sacred life of a mother.

And it is with faith that I take this picture. Faith in knowing that I have been given this little life, to capture and to protect for only a moment; to hold for a split second and say, "You are beautiful."
